Diving in Okinawa is a nice experience for the whole family. You don't need to be a certified diver to enjoy and explore Okinawa's amazing coral reefs. Get ready to see magnificent marine life and exotic animals!
Okinawa has many fringing reefs located close to the island’s beaches. Although it is just a stone's throw from the shore, all locations are accessible by boat or you can simply swim to avoid boat traffic. The currents are usually calm, but at some sites they are quite strong and offer varying levels of difficulty.
Maeda offers various dive sites. During the winter we visit humpback whales. In addition to whale watching, divers can hear the songs of these amazing animals underwater! Fortunately, you can also see large giant trevally in deeper waters at sites such as Cape Zanpa and Manzamo. The shallow coral reefs at Yamada Point or Gorilla Chop are perfect for training, learning things slowly, and observing small creatures and even white tip sharks hiding in the reef. There's something for everyone!
The boat departs the port at 9:00 or 13:00 and returns after about 1.5 hours. It usually takes about 7 to 15 minutes to get to the designated dive site and then you can begin your first dive. Back onboard the boat, you can take a relaxing 60-minute water break with drinks and snacks before proceeding with your second (usually shallow) dive. Finally, we head back to port and then return to the dive center.
